Back in 2018, I was in the midst of a brand refresh.
After attending a design workshop in Spain, I ventured to the South of France where my fabulous mastermind friends from Australia, England, and Wales joined me for a business brainstorming session.
Over a delicious lunch and a crisp glass of fine French Rosé, it became clearer than ever that refining a brand has less to do with addition, and more to do with subtraction.
01. INSIGHT
When it comes to luxury branding, true distinction emerges from the artful reduction of all that is unnecessary.
Refined branding reveals itself when every element is intentional and is given the space to speak for itself, without distraction.
Different from the movement of minimalism, which simply favors simplicity, this deliberate consideration of every element invites the discerning luxury audience to appreciate the quiet confidence of a brand.
By removing excess, a brand (ironically) positions substance over spectacle and once everything superfluous is deducted, luxury brands achieve the ultimate expression of refined sophistication.

03. INTENTION
Take a few minutes to look at one of your brand’s digital or print assets and ask yourself these questions:
Is every element intentional?
Do I truly need every element?
What can be removed?
Remember, in an industry where detail is expected, the intentional use of brand elements is essential.
